Tender for Singapore's largest solar panel installation awarded to Sunseap Leasing
THE first tender coming out of Singapore's solar lead demand programme, SolarNova, has been awarded to Sunseap Leasing Pte Ltd.
The tender, covering 76 megawatts-peak (MWp) of solar power, is the largest tender to date in Singapore's both public and private sectors, according to a joint release by the Housing & Development Board (HDB) and the Economic Development Board.
The tender will cover 831 HDB blocks, and eight Ministry of Home Affairs and Public Utilities Board sites.
The installation is expected to be completed by end-2017.
In June, HDB called the first SolarNova tender to consolidate demand across multiple government agencies for the installation of solar panels.
The tender received expressions of interest from more than 20 local and foreign companies during the tender period.
A total of 14 tender bids were received from nine tenderers. This is the highest number of bids received for a solar leasing tender called by the HDB so far.
SolarNova will support Singapore's plan to have 350 MWp of solar power in the country by 2020.
"More tenders under the programme will be called over the next four to five years," the joint release said.
The next SolarNova tender will be called in the first half of 2016.
