China: Stocks fall as technology companies lead decline
[SHANGHAI] China's stocks fell for the first time in three days as losses for technology companies overshadowed a rally for commodity producers.
The Shanghai Composite Index dropped 0.3 per cent to 3,637.04 at 2:37 pm, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index erased a gain of as much as 1.4 per cent to trade 0.4 per cent lower. East Money Information slumped 4.8 percent. Jiangxi Copper posted its biggest gain in two weeks as industrial metals surged after Chinese regulators were said to be considering a probe into short-selling on local exchanges.
