BREAKING: Xi Jinping, Ma Ying-jeou meet in historic Singapore summit

BREAKING: Xi Jinping, Ma Ying-jeou meet in historic Singapore summit
Mr Ma, in his opening remarks, said the meeting - the first in 66 years - is historically significant because it has a big impact on the future of cross-strait ties. He said the 1993 Koo-Wang talks in Singapore between envoys of the two sides established a mechanism for cross-strait exchanges. The meeting today, he pointed out, is the result of efforts by both sides to replace confrontation with dialogue.
