Government to help food firms promote digital solutions to raise productivity

Government to help food firms promote digital solutions to raise productivity

THE Singapore government will help food companies take up new initiatives that promote digital solutions in taking orders, automated dishwashing, and new dining formats.
Together, these initiatives, as part of the second Food Services Productivity Plan, are expected to help food companies transition towards a leaner workforce and raise productivity.
The new plan was launched at the Singapore Food Services Productivity Conference 2015 on Friday.
The first plan was launched in 2011, as part of a nationwide plan to raise productivity. To date, close to 3,700 establishments have received support on 940 productivity improvement and service upgrading projects, said Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry) Lim Hng Kiang, the guest of honour at the conference.
"The food services sector plays a vital role in Singapore's economy as it meets a basic domestic need and supports the vibrancy of the tourism industry," said Mr Lim.
