SINGAPORE citizens aged 40 and above will be able to enjoy enhanced subsidies of up to 90 per cent of course fees for certifiable courses supported by the Workforce Development Agency (WDA), with effect from Oct 1, 2015.
The subsidy - unveiled by Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of the SkillsFuture Council, in the Budget 2015 statement - is aimed at supporting mid-career Singaporeans to deepen their skills or acquire new skills so as to help them remain competitive and resilient in the job market. More than 8,000 courses will be eligible for the enhanced subsidies.
Eligible individuals under the Workfare Training Support Scheme will continue to receive 95 per cent course fee funding support.
WDA said the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy is the latest SkillsFuture initiative that has been rolled out. It intends to unveil more SkillsFuture initiatives in the upcoming months.
