Largest 3D printing facility in SEA opens in Singapore
NASDAQ-LISTED semiconductor firm Ultra Clean Technology (UCT) on Monday launched in Singapore what is believed to be the largest and most comprehensive commercial 3D printing facility in South-east Asia (SEA).
The facility, located in Woodlands, provides a full scale of 3D printing services which include prototyping, part optimisation, 3D engineering services, consumer parts production and virtual warehousing.
This shift from "mass production" to "mass on-demand customisation" will positively impact the economy in many ways, UCT said in a statement.
"3D printing opens the door to individuals and small companies to manufacture parts with no capital equipment investment. It allows large corporations to increase their R&D pace through rapid prototyping. Cost of operation is also reduced through virtual warehousing," noted Lavi Lev, senior vice president of UCT's Asia division.
