Indonesia raises import duty on consumer goods
[JAKARTA] Indonesia has raised the import duty for many consumer goods, from food and beverages to clothing and condoms, a finance ministry official said.
The finance minister decree took effect on Thursday, following an evaluation of recent economic conditions, the regulation said. "It is meant to push local industry," Suahasil Nazara, head of the fiscal policy office at the ministry, told Reuters on Thursday.
