Fifa official agrees to extradition from Switzerland to US: Bern

One of seven Fifa officials detained in Switzerland in May as a massive corruption scandal erupted has agreed to be extradited to the United States, the Swiss justice ministry said on Friday.

[GENEVA] One of seven Fifa officials detained in Switzerland in May as a massive corruption scandal erupted has agreed to be extradited to the United States, the Swiss justice ministry said on Friday.

"The US Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York accuses him of accepting bribes totalling millions of dollars in connection with the sale of marketing rights to various sports marketing firms and keeping the money for himself," the ministry said, without identifying the official.

A spokesman said the man would remain in Switzerland until US police came to escort him to the United States.
