REC completes rooftop solar installation at Bugis Junction

REC completes rooftop solar installation at Bugis Junction

SOLAR energy provider REC has completed the installation of a 172 kilowatt peak (kWp) rooftop photovoltaic at Bugis Junction, which will be able to generate 200,000 kilowatt hour of clean energy annually and save the property approximately S$30,000 per year for the next 25 years, the company announced on Monday.
The amount of energy generated by the PV installation is sufficient to power approximately 50 four-room HDB households every year, REC said in a note.
The installation covers a roof area of about 1,000 square metres and is one of the largest installations for an integrated mixed-use development in Singapore, REC added.
Four locations at Bugis Junction were identified for the panel installations, consisting of three key areas above the Bugis Junction shopping mall, which is owned by CapitaLand Mall Trust, as well as the rooftop of the office tower, Bugis Junction Towers, which is owned by Keppel Reit.
REC is the exclusive solar panel supplier for Bugis Junction, as well as the project consultant and manager for all engineering, procurement and construction services.
The company is about to hit its goal of 1.3 gigawatt of production capacity in Singapore, its spokeswoman told BT on Monday.
CapitaLand Mall Trust Management's head of investment and asset management, Jacqueline Lee, said: "CapitaLand Mall Trust is continually looking for ways to green our malls by developing and implementing sustainable designs, operations and practices. Partnering with REC to install solar panels at Bugis Junction not only helps our mall to tap on a renewable energy source, it also delivers cost savings that enable us to run our malls more efficiently."
