Conservatives win majority in UK election: final tally

[LONDON] British Prime Minister David Cameron's Conservative party won 331 seats in UK's general election, a majority of five in the House of Commons, final results showed on Friday.
Five years after his failure to win the necessary 326 seats to govern alone forced him into coalition with the Liberal Democrats, Cameron is now able to form a Conservative government.
The vast majority of the Tory seats are in England, whereas in Scotland, the Scottish Nationalist Party (SNP) won 56 out of 59 possible seats in an unprecedented landslide.
Labour and the Lib Dems both suffered major losses, prompting the leaders of both parties to resign. The UK Independence Party won 12.6 per cent of the popular vote, but the nature of the electoral system mean they have only one seat.
