New chief executive for Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City developer

New chief executive for Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City developer

The master developer for a high-level project between China and Singapore to develop an eco-city in Tianjin will get a new chief executive officer later this year.
Ministry of National Development (MND) senior director Liew Choon Boon will helm Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Investment and Development with effect from July 1, conglomerate Keppel Corp said in a statement on Monday.
Mr Liew is taking over from the current CEO, Ho Tong Yen, who will be returning to Singapore after completing his posting in Tianjin.
Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Investment and Development is the master developer for the 30 sq km eco-city. The company is a 50-50 joint venture between a Singapore consortium, led by Keppel Corp, and a Chinese consortium led by Tianjin TEDA Investment Holding.
Keppel Corp CEO Loh Chin Hua said that Mr Liew has been heading the MND's eco-city project office since 2013 and is "very familiar with the project".
Mr Liew will hold a concurrent appointment as advisor on eco-city matters at MND.
The eco-city now has more than 20,000 residents and more than 1,400 registered companies, Keppel said.
